Die Künstlergruppe LAb[au] aus Brüssel ist bekannt für ihre großflächigen Lichtinstallationen und kinetischen Objekte im urbanen Raum (z. B. Dexia-
Tower, Brüssel, s.
youtube.com).
In ihrer Ausstellung beschäftigen sie sich mit dem Thema Zeit. Auf Grundlage der Kybernetik und der Farbtheorie setzen sie Zeit in Licht und Farbe um.
Nach dem Prinzip der Weltzeituhr mit den verschiedenen Zeitzonen der Erde
auf wird zwölf Konsolen jeweils die lokale Zeit als sich ständig verändernde
Farbinstallation dargestellt.
Der Code der Installation - das Konzept der Arbeit - ist als Text auf den
Wänden der Galerie zu sehen.
Seit vielen Jahrhunderten gibt es in der Philosophie die Auseinandersetzung,
ob Zeit in erster Linie eher eine objektive messbare Einheit ist oder ob sie
für den einzelnen Menschen als subjektive Wahrnehmung das Leben mitbestimmt, also ein vorwiegend emotionales Moment darstellt. LAb[au] hat für die Ausstellung ein Programm konzipiert,mit dem der Besucher durch Eingabe eines Datums die farblich umgesetze Darstellung genau dieses Tages erstellen kann. Das Programm basiert auf der Länge der Sonnen- und Mondzyklen.
Neben der Installation time | emit zeigt LAb[au] auch die neue Skulptur SwarmDot, die sich thematisch mit dem Thema Schwarm beschäftigt. Wie der
Vorgänger Pixflow zeigt sie nicht nur eine ästhetisch schlüssige Software-Arbeit, sondern bezieht auch die Hardware bewusst in die Gestaltung als Skulptur mit ein. Die Säule ist im Ganzen aus Plexiglas gefertigt und die Technik dadurch vollkommen transparent. SwarmDot besteht aus vier vertikal montierten Bildschirmen, über die die eigentliche Software-Arbeit abläuft.

The artist group LAb[au] from Brussels is known for its large-scale light-
installations and kinetic objects in urban spaces (f. e. Dexia-Tower, Brussels, see youtube.com).
Their exhibition deals with the subject time. On the basis of cybernetics and
the theory of colours they transform time in light and colours. The local time
of different time zones on earth will be shown as a perpetually changing
colour installation on twelve consoles according to the principle of GMT.
The code of the installation - the concept of the work - is visualised as a text on the walls of the gallery.
For many centuries there is a discussion in philosophy whether time is
primarily an objective and measurable unit or if time affects the life of a
human being as a subjective perception, t. m. as an emotional element.
LAb[au] has written a program for the exhibition that, by entering a date in the computer, allows the visitor to create the couloured transformation of exactly that day. The program is based on the changing cycles of sun and moon.
Apart from the installation time ¦ emit LAb[au] also presents their new
sculpture SwarmDot, that deals with the subject of swarms. As the antecessor
Pixflow it is not only an aesthetically coherent software piece but also includes the hardware intentionally as part of the sculpture. The column is entirely made of plexiglass and thereby the components are fully visible. SwarmDot consists of four vertically assembled screens, on which the software piece is shown.
