Die ifa-Galerien Berlin und Stuttgart schaffen Kontakte zwischen Menschen und Institutionen aus der ganzen Welt. Gerade in der Ausstellungsreihe "connect" arbeiten die Galerien mit Partnern zusammen, die diese Aufgabe im Bereich des internationalen Kulturaustausches teilen. Nach Kunst aus Vietnam und Rio de Janeiro präsentiert die ifa-Galerie Berlin in dieser Reihe vom 14. Oktober 2011 bis 22. Januar 2012 die Internationale Künstlervereinigung Khoj aus Delhi unter dem Titel "In Indien und weit darüber hinaus".
Khoj ist Inkubator für Kunst und Kunstdiskurs, ein kreativer Ort künstlerischer Begegnung, Vermittlung und kultureller Bildung. Als Akteur und Knotenpunkt in einem weltweiten Netzwerk bietet die Vereinigung eine Plattform für interdisziplinären Austausch und interkulturellen Dialog. Khoj ist eine Initiative, gegründet und organisiert von Künstlern für Künstler; Khoj überwindet mit Kunst und dabei vor allem mit den beteiligten Künstlerinnen und Künstlern Grenzen: Über 500 Kunstschaffende aus der ganzen Welt haben sich seit der Gründung 1997 bei oder durch Khoj getroffen.

Die Leiterin der Initiative, Pooja Sood, entwickelte zusammen mit Matthias Görlich ein Ausstellungskonzept, in welchem ausschließlich die Künstlerinnen und Künstler zu "Wort" kommen: Bani Abidi, Zuleikha Chaudhari, Nikhil Chopra, Rohini Devasher, Shilpa Gupta und Huma Mulji, Abhishek Hazra, Hema Upadhyay, Sylvia Winkler und Stephan Köperl haben alle in und mit Khoj gearbeitet. Es entstanden Foto- und Videoarbeiten, Installationen, Performances, interaktive und partizipatorische Projekte im öffentlichen Raum, welche die Offenheit und Lebendigkeit dieses Raumes für Kunst widerspiegeln. Khoj entfaltet seine mitreißende Wirkung auch in Berlin!
Zur Ausstellung erscheint ein Katalog mit 128 Seiten und zahlreichen Abbildungen zum Preis von 15 Euro.

The ifa Galleries in Berlin and Stuttgart help to establish contacts between people and institutions from around the world. In particular the exhibitions in the series “connect” are created in collaboration with partners who share this commitment to international cultural exchange. Following the presentation of art from Vietnam and Rio de Janeiro, the ifa Gallery Berlin now showcases the Delhi-based International Artists´ Association Khoj in an exhibition entitled “In India and far beyond”, running from 14 October 2011 to 22 January 2012.
Khoj is an incubator for art and artistic discourse, a creative place for artistic exchange, information and cultural education. Acting as a social hub within a global network the Association offers a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and intercultural dialogue. Khoj was founded on the initiative of artists and is organised for artists; Khoj overcomes boundaries by means of art and especially through the participation of the artists: more than 500 cultural producers from around the globe have met at or through Khoj since its establishment in 1997.
According to the concept of the exhibition, which was developed by Pooja Sood, the director of the Association, in collaboration with Matthias Görlich, it is solely the artists who shall “have their say”: Bani Abidi, Zuleikha Chaudhari, Nikhil Chopra, Rohini Devasher, Shilpa Gupta and Huma Mulji, Abhishek Hazra, Hema Upadhyay, Sylvia Winkler and Stephan Köperl have all worked at and in collaboration with Khoj. They created photo and video works, installations, performances, interactive and participatory projects in the public space, all of which reflect the openness and vitality of this space for the arts. In Berlin, too, Khoj will unfold its captivating effect!
The exhibition will be accompanied by a 128-page catalogue including numerous images, available for 15 EUR.
