In der zweiteiligen Ausstellung ALIENS ANYWHERE werden von Mai bis Juli 2025 individuelle künstlerische Positionen gezeigt, die das komplexe Thema jüdischer Identität im gegenwärtigen Deutschland reflektieren. In Berlin lebende internationale jüdische Künstler*innen verhandeln deutsche Geschichte, Migration, Erinnerung und Identität.
Historische und aktuelle Lebenswirklichkeiten werden gleichermaßen im Kontext der bildenden Kunst aufgearbeitet.

Erez Israeli erschafft mit seinem The Pretzelman Cathedral Project (2018-21) hybride skulptural-sakrale Ikonen, die Deutschsein als Projektionsfläche untersuchen. Seine Fotoserie Human and the Sun (2014) dekonstruiert die NS-Körperästhetik.
David Krippendorffs Film Kali (2017) überträgt Brechts Pirate Jenny ins Arabische, interpretiert von der palästinensischen Schauspielerin Hiam Abbass. In Silent Prayer (2019- 23) transformiert er Ravels Kaddish in eine minimalistische Partitur aus Tintentropfen – ein Symbol des Verlustes.
Joachim Seinfelds Projekt Souvenir Photograph (1994-2004) hinterfragt unreflektierte Touristenfotos am Eingang von Auschwitz-Birkenau. In Wenn Deutsche lustig sind – Dokufiktion (2005-25) inszeniert er sich satirisch per digitaler Montage als Täter und Opfer gleichermaßen in historischen Archivbildern. In seiner dritten Position nutzt Seinfeld das moderne Künstlerbild als Ziel für seinen kritischen Humor: Mit Save the Day inszeniert er in diorama-ähnlichen Installationen ikonische, aber ironisch gebrochene Momente der Kunstgeschichte – von Schwitters bis Beuys – und hinterfragt so spielerisch den Mythos des Genies.

The two-part exhibition ALIENS ANYWHERE, on view from May to July 2025, presents a range of individual artistic positions that engage with the complex theme of Jewish identity in contemporary Germany.
International Jewish artists based in Berlin explore German history, migration, memory, and identity through their work. Both historical and contemporary realities of life are examined within the context of the visual arts.

With The Pretzelman Cathedral Project (2018–21), Erez Israeli creates hybrid sculptural-sacred icons that interrogate “Germanness” as a surface of projection. His photographic series Human and the Sun (2014) deconstructs the Nazi body aesthetic.
David Krippendorff’s film Kali (2017) transposes Brecht’s Pirate Jenny into Arabic, performed by Palestinian actress Hiam Abbass. In Silent Prayer (2019–23), he transforms Ravel’s Kaddish into a minimalist score composed of ink droplets – a symbol of loss.
Joachim Seinfeld’s project Souvenir Photograph (1994–2004) questions the uncritical nature of tourist photography at the entrance of Auschwitz-Birkenau. In When Germans are Having Fun – Docufiction (2005–25), he uses digital montage to satirically portray himself as both perpetrator and victim within historical archive images. In his third body of work, Seinfeld turns his critical wit towards the modern image of the artist: in Save the Day, diorama-like installations stage iconic, yet ironically fractured moments of art history – from Schwitters to Beuys – playfully challenging the myth of the artistic genius.
