Vor dem inspirierenden Hintergrund der angekündigten Gründung einer
Berliner Kunsthalle richtet "The Arts and the City" den Blick in
Richtung führender europäischer Kulturmetropolen, die in den letzten
Jahren Zentren für zeitgenössische Kunst mit innovativen Präsentations-,
Produktions- und Vermittlungsformen hervorgebracht haben. Ihre
Erfahrungen bilden die Grundlage für die Diskussion über die Aufgaben
und Potentiale einer Kunsthalle neuen Typs, Berlins zukünftigem
zentralem Schauplatz für Gegenwartskunst.

Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, Bourouina Gallery

Taking its starting point in the inspiring situation of the promised foundation of a Berliner Kunsthalle, "The Arts and the City" aims to direct attention to leading European culture metropolises which in the last years originated contemporary art centres featuring innovative forms of presentation, production and participation. The discussion about tasks and potentials of a Kunsthalle of a new type, of the future central stage for contemporary arts in Berlin, will be based on the concrete experiences of those international institutions.

A rehearsal stage for trans disciplinary production: institution as a laboratory?
