Last call for entries
The call for entries for DOKU.ARTS 2009 is still open. The deadline for film submissions is 15 March 2009 (materials must be received by this date). Please go to doku-arts.com to download the submission form.
Theme of the festival
DOKU.ARTS explores the connections between the history of cinema and television and art. It shows contemporary cinematic portrayals and documents about artists and art, which succeed in getting close to the life and work of artists. The festival screens, promotes and discusses documentaries about all art fields: music, literature, theatre, dance, cinema, painting, sculpture, visual art and media art. In the 2009 edition, the festival focus is on architecture. DOKU.ARTS presents films and videos with intrinsic artistic value.
Festival history
DOKU.ARTS was founded in 2006 at the Academy of Arts in Berlin by Andreas Lewin. In 2008 the new director of the Filmmuseum, Sandra den Hamer, formerly director of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, invited the festival to move to Amsterdam.
Partners 2009 edition
